US physics professor Sidney Perkowitz has suggested guidelines for Hollywood that permit just one violation of the laws of physics per film.
But how would you choose which violation? Would each Hollywood producer have to consult a physicist when they’re storyboarding a film? Actually, I can see why physicists might support this… suddenly there’d be a massive flood of new and glamourous jobs for people in their field.
So, I take it back, Perkowitz – you’re not a killjoy, you’re a champion of the economic wellbeing of the scientific community. Or maybe you just want your own trailer on set.
Also, I am a supporter of Firefly‘s “no sound in space” rule. But if we can’t have giant insects, what’s the point in anything?
