Reading an article about Alan Moore, the description of Halo Jones reminded me of someone:
As Halo Jones was to the 80s, Rose Tyler on Doctor Who was to the early 2000s. Both in their late teens, both without any particular prospects in life, both with a desire to go anywhere but here.
Although, Rose has the Doctor as her travel companion/love interest, while Halo just has a killer robot dog (who’s in love with her).
If you haven’t read Halo Jones, by the way, I strongly recommend it, especially if you grew up (or were young) under Thatcher.
Also, interesting titbit from the article above: Alan Moore is Patrick Moore’s nephew.
