Over the hills and far away

Posted on

After an extended stint in the Stokie tea shop this afternoon, I went on a bike ride with my friend M* today, up the abandoned railway line to Highgate. If you haven’t been up there, do. It starts in Finsbury Park and is a lovely leafy passage through trees and – somehow, miraculously – without noticeable hills. Good for little engines who couldn’t back in the day, good for bikes now, and we came out almost on the top of the world all the same. A very slow incline maybe? Still, there was plenty still to climb.  We took the roads up from highgate station to what I think was highgate village. Not quite as bad as the hills up to Golders Green, but tricky.

All in all, a good day.

*Not M from Bond, although we did have an interesting discussion about spycraft, so you never know, maybe one day?
